Today I created a Firefox toolbar for my entertainment site Digital Lard. The toolbar basically has two buttons and a search box.
The first button shortcuts to various sections of the site as the image below demonstrates.

The second button though is the nifty one, you can enter a search sting in the text box and by choosing an option on the second button you can either:
- Search the site
- Find the best priced DVD, Book, Music CD, Game or Electrical Item
- Search Google

Creating the toolbar is actually pretty easy, I managed to create this one in about four hours and that includes all the reading up time on how to do it. All you really need to create one is a good text editor and a little knowledge of javascript, some understanding of xml might help too.
I won’t bother listing the lengthy process here, as there is already a fantastic article available with simple to follow instructions, so I’ll just list it below:

Although my toolbar is undoubtedly aimed at a very specific market, I can see a real potential for profit if I can get enough people out there downloading and installing it. If your interested in trying it, I’ll link to the runtime below. You may need to right click and save it locally then open it through Firefox, then it should just install as an extension.

My blog is mainly about programming in .Net 2, website promotion and affiliate marketing although I do have the odd ramble on about anything that comes to mind.
