Last week I did a review for the Review-Me service of a website called whogets.com. Now I believe I did an honest and constructive review of the site and I certainly spent more time on it than the small fee deserved of my time but I always believe in doing a thorough job or not doing it at all.
Now it is true that while I stated the website itself looked fine, I did question they’re whole sweepstake model and considered it flawed. Well it turns out that they did not approve of my comments and cancelled payment for the review. Now in my mind if you pay for a set of reviews and cannot handle an honest opinion then you should not have asked for a review in the first place.
I am very disappointed that they cancelled payment for the review and I am also disappointed that review-me allows them too. In my mind this means one of two things of the whole service:
- You should only pick reviews of sights that you will praise.
- You should pretend to like the sites if you want to make sure you get paid.
Now I for one intend to keep my integrity and will not lie about a website, if I think there are flaws I will say so, even if it means I don’t get paid for the review.
As always any comments on this are welcome.
My blog is mainly about programming in .Net 2, website promotion and affiliate marketing although I do have the odd ramble on about anything that comes to mind.

Hi Steve,
I believe it was their loss not to take your feedback because personally I feel it is a valid feedback. Don’t feel too bad not being paid. I heard there was a an old Eastern saying, when 1 door closed, 10 doors will be opened!

We did not cancel your review or get any refunds from reviewme.com . We paid reviewme in full for all the reviews. Either there was some sort of reply/confirmation that you needed to give reviewme.com that you did complete the review or a mistake in their system.
We just looked at your previous review and it was fine. However, your comments that we cancelled your review are incorrect.

Steve,
Thanks. Thanks for the old review as well. We were actually considering putting a “theme” on some contests such as clever, funny, etc. so that more clever, funny people would be encouraged to enter that particular contest.
However, a good percentage of the contests have entrants who don’t have a down and out story. I think all the statements and stories make it interesting.

Hi Steve, I don’t know why the heck they didn’t take your feedback if it is a valid one! but don’t panic; try several times and I’m sure you will succeed soon. Everything comes gradually. Thanks for your post
