I feel that I haven’t done so well in this blog for September, I haven’t made enough quality posts and I haven’t been here enough or tried to grow it enough. While I am happy with the things I have posted about I feel that they were too far and few between. So I’ve decided to set myself some goal for this month to have something to reach for.

Initially I haven’t set them as too demanding as I feel it’s important to be able to stretch a goal a little further if you manage to achieve it. So here is what I plan to do for the month of October.

Write at least 10 quality posts by the end of the month.
Approve or delete all comments within 24 of them being posted.
Increase RSS readership by 50%

So that’s pretty much it, as you can see I haven’t set anything too demanding but if I achieve these I will probably push myself a little harder next month.

A Note On Comments

As I have mentioned in the past, I allow link following on my comments. I am happy to do this and feel I am doing it for the right reasons. However that does make me a little more protective of my comments than some others might be. So I reserve the right to not approve any comments that I feel are spammy.

If you have something you want to say, whether it is good or bad (I’m big enough to handle both) then please all comments are welcome. However if your comment is of no value and is clearly self promotion, especially if your linking to some pharmaceutical product or posting seven different comments that basically say the same thing. Then you can be sure your comments will be deleted.

Thanks for listening and understanding, I am sure you all realise I am referring to the very tiny minority.

It is always smart move to make goals, because there are greater chances you will follow and fulfill them. Let see how you will finish this month, but i guess if you wish to be successful blogger you should complete them all, and results will come. But i guess your hardest point will be incrementation of RSS readers. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback, i thought at some length about if I should reveal my RSS numbers because they are in fact pretty low. But at the end of the day I think I should be completely open here. As of today I only have 25 subscribed readers according to Feedburner.

So 50% isn’t an impossible goal I feel.

well keep up the work i actually like this site. You are in my google reader now. As for deleting comments just be careful some are spam but some people are getting pretty good when it comes to making spam look like it belongs. And yes i do read your posts from time to time as you can see its the 9th and just getting back so will enjoy seeing you post more.

i think its good your setting goals, as by setting goals you give yourself a direction to move in. Without goals, little or no progress will be made.

Putting the goals out there is a healthy procedure, and I would say that this could be supplemented with further explanation of how you would like to pursue the goals or assisting factors in the process. The more you explain of what you would like to see will make the process that much easier.

One great way to get people to notice your blog more is to submit it to more do follow blog directories! Thats how I found it in the first place!
